Increasing Import and Export of Natural Gas and Increasing Expenditure on Household Cleaning Products to Augment Growth of Synthetic Zeolite Market
Synthetic zeolite is obtained process of slow
crystallization of a silica-alumina gel in the presence of alkalis and organic
templates. This super-hard mineral can be used as a source of oxygen in
experiments with free radicals. It has been proven that zeolite can absorb infrared,
x-rays, and ultraviolet light, which is why it is frequently added to many
kinds of laboratory testing environments.
Synthetic zeolite is attractive for separation and
drying because of its affinity for water, its high-solubility in all but
low-molecular weight water, its ability to accept various other small sized
molecules, and its ability to reject larger molecular ones. Though the
absorption of infrared and ultraviolet light by synthetic zeolites has yet to
be proven conclusively, it is thought to possess some of the same properties of
natural zeolite. For energy efficiency and thermal comfort in buildings,
research is currently being conducted to improve these properties.
Market Dynamics
Increasing import and export of natural gas is
expected to propel growth of the global
synthetic zeolite market. For instance, the U.S. imported about 52.8 Bcf of
liquefied natural gas from only four countries. However, the country witnessed
increase in export. According to the same source, the U.S. liquefied natural
gas export capacity increased from less than 1 billion cubic feet per day
(Bcf/d) in 2016 to nearly 9 Bcf/d at the end of 2019.
Increasing
expenditure on household cleaning products is expected to offer lucrative
growth opportunities for players in the global synthetic zeolite market. For
instance, in December 2020, according to a new survey conducted by Toluna and
commissioned by Tide, about two-thirds of the people in the U.S. are concerned
about stains this holiday season and over 40% of the people in the U.S. foresee
grease and oil as the biggest challenge in preparation for their holiday meal.
In fact, nearly 60% say that household cleaning products, such as laundry
detergent, will take up more room in their shopping cart this year.
Competitive Analysis
Major players operating in the global synthetic
zeolite market include, Zeolyst International Inc. (Shell), Albemarle
Corporation, Metalsearch Limited, Fujian Risheng Chemical Co., Ltd., W.R. Grace
& Company, Anten Chemical Co., Ltd., Chemiewerk Bad Kostritz GmbH, BASF SE,
Clariant AG, Honeywell International, Inc., Huiying Chemical Industry
(Quanzhou) Co., Ltd.
Major
players operating in the global synthetic zeolite market are focused on
adopting various strategies to enhance their market share. For instance, in
April 2020, Metalsearch Limited secured an exclusive worldwide license for a
unique newly developed synthetic zeolite processing technology that has the
potential to significantly lower the cost of production for this widely applied
input.
