The Growing demand for the Electronic Nose Market Act As a Defense against Hazardous Environment
An
electronic nose is an electronic device designed to detect certain flavors or
odors in the air. When used, it allows for a more thorough sniffing of the air.
A good example of an electronic nose used in foodservice would be a system
designed to test for chemicals in the air. While there are several of these
devices available on the market. They do provide a better way of evaluating the
air than using a standard air sampling kit. This would also allow the odor or
flavor to be determined. For instance, if a product was selling very well in an
area, but it was producing a noticeable smell in areas where it was not being
sold, it could be a sign that the odor or flavor was in fact present. This type
of odor detection is not possible by an air sampling device alone. Another
category of electronic noses is the one designed for detecting the aroma of
certain foods
The
growing demand for the electronic
nose market as a defense against hazardous environments for consumer
goods and the healthcare sector is driving the market growth. Increasing use of
artificial sensors to identify and test a range of parameters such as detect
the leak of dangerous gases or decayed goods is again augmenting the market
growth. Also, the growing demand for the electronic nose from the food
&beverage industry to assess the freshness of goods in order to verify
product quality is further projected to foster market growth. Researchers are
focusing on developing innovative electronic noses in order to cater to growing
demand. This is expected to propel the market growth. Scientists Penn State and
Northeastern University have developed an "electric nose" for health
and environmental monitoring. The sensor device is an improvement on existing
wearable sensors because it uses a self-heating mechanism that enhances
sensitivity.
North
America is expected to gain significant growth over the forecast period and
this is attributed to the expanding food & beverage industry which is one
of the major end-user of an electronic nose. According to the Economic Research
Service United States Department of Agriculture in 2019, U.S. consumers,
businesses, and government entities spent $1.77 trillion on food and beverages
in grocery stores and other retailers and on away-from-home meals and snacks.
Key Developments:
1. In April 2018, Alpha MOS announce the launch of our
new HERACLES Neo electronic nose that features increased performance for smell
analysis
2. In July 2020, Dreamtech’s announced that its
electronic nose that can check whether a patient has contract COVID-19 has
received the European Commission's CE registration for a diagnostic tool.
